Gerard Kruisheer - CEO & Co-Founder

Gerard Kruisheer is leading the development in the UAE of SaferTrident, the World’s Only Semi Autonomous Vehicle (SAV) for Professional Divers. SaferTrident is both a multi-purpose hybrid Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) and Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) designed for assisting divers, localization, and mapping.
Mr Kruisheer is an expert Marine Scientist who has undertaken extensive research in the use of electronics and machining to aid scientific and technical divers. His interest in this area of engineering was first stoked while studying at the University of Hawaii, where he worked on a team developing cutting-edge remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and marine data capture systems at the Spatial Data Analysis and Visualization Lab (SDAV ).
It was during his time at the SDAV that Mr Kruisheer received project funding to perfect his unique expertise in marine data acquisition; an invaluable asset that he brings to the SaferTrident leadership team.
As lead technical developer on the SCABA Semi-Autonomous Vehicle, Mr Kruisheer is bringing together his technical expertise, creativity and avid interest in marine mission assistance and data acquisition to create the ultimate semi-autonomous visualizing and mapping tool for divers.
As CEO of SafeTrident, Mr Kruisheer is leading the company into a new era of exciting product commercialization and business development, centred around the creation of new and innovative technologies to assist scientists, professional divers and mission critical technical service operators in their mission to better work in the undersea world.
Mr Kruisheer is passionate about helping young designers realise their potential through the development of Maker Spaces and has a long-term agreement with the INNOVATOR Space which is designed and operated by Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee’s (TDC) in partnership with ‘TechShop,’ the US-based world leading operator of “makers spaces”.
SaferTrident's design and production team will be lead by Mr Kruisheer and all SaferTrident commercialized prototypes are planned to be done at the INNOVATOR Space in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Due to the focus on ‘MADE in the UAE’ commercialization, this facility is ideal for SaferTrident development as it adopts the open innovation philosophy and aims to become a platform for cooperation between the Public and Private sector in the area of innovation. The INNOVATOR Space partner, ‘TechShop’, has a long track-record of establishing successful partnerships with leading government and industrial counterparts in the US which SaferTrident hopes to build upon, including GE, Ford, NASA, BMW and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
